Greetings,

I’m delighted to welcome you to the third and final conference on Improving Instruction, Assessment, and Policies for Secondary English Learners Across the Content Areas offered by our Institute of Education Sciences (IES) funded National Research and Development Center. This year’s conference will take place at George Washington University in Washington, DC, on June 25-26, 2026.

This installment is the culmination of years of work from research centers and universities across the U.S. and will showcase important insights into English Learner (EL) education and outcomes. Our two-day conference is intended for teachers, district and state EL program administrators, and others playing critical roles in the field of EL education, including policymakers and researchers. We look forward to sharing the latest research on policy and instruction, and to engaging attendees with hands-on workshop activities and team-building interactions.

With ELs making up nearly 10 percent of the K-12 student population across the United States, their educational success has never been more important. Join us in Washington in June and add your voice to the conversation!

Warm regards,

David Francis
