Leticia Martinez, Ph.D.

Co-Investigator

Leticia Martinez is a research scientist and director of the Language for Learning Institute at The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at The University of Texas at Austin.

 

She studies content area literacy practices that promote content and language learning for all students, particularly English learners.

 

At present, she serves as co-principal investigator of two IES-funded, multi-site studies of a text and discourse-based social studies intervention and one elementary math intervention for English learners funded by the National Science Foundation.

 

Leticia is an experienced elementary and middle school language arts teacher.

 

She received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, language and literacy studies from The University of Texas at Austin.
